A simple idea, a bigger purpose.

I helped create EZ-TV because I watched my grandparents struggle with something that should be simple: watching television. For most of their lives, television was easy. You turned it on, adjusted the volume, and selected a channel. The first remote controls had just a few buttons. You didn’t need instructions, and you certainly didn’t need to call someone for help. Voice recognition is supposed to make things easier, but it doesn’t always understand what you’re asking it to do.

My grandmother has remote controls covered with buttons she doesn’t understand and will probably never use. Sometimes she presses a button and nothing seems to happen, so she presses it again. Suddenly, she’s in an unfamiliar menu, on the wrong input, or in a streaming service she never intended to open. Getting back to her favorite program can be nearly impossible without help…read more
